Kingsley-Pierson takes two from Boyer Valley

DUNLAP -- The Kingsley-Pierson baseball team swept a doubleheader against Boyer Valley on Friday in Dunlap.

In the first game, the Panthers (19-7) won 5-0.

Senior Brandon Bainbridge pitched a one-hit shutout. He struck out 19 and walked just one.

K-P finished the game with seven hits. Freshman Austin Neumann was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Bainbridge added two hits and an RBI.

In the second game, the Panthers came back from an early deficit to win 17-6.

K-P trailed 6-4 after four innings before scoring five runs in the fifth and seven more in the seventh.

The Panthers combined for 14 hits. Sophomore Chad Husted was 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Josh Dunlap added three hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Bainbridge had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored. Junior Levi Mahrt tallied two hits, three RBIs and a run scored.

Neumann pitched three and a third innings and allowed six runs, two earned, on three hits. He struck out six and walked seven.

Mahrt pitched three and two-thirds innings and gave up no runs on two hits. He struck out six and walked two.
