REMSEN -- The Remsen-Union softball team won its eighth-straight game with a 5-4, 10-inning win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Tuesday in Remsen.
After three scoreless innings, the Hawks got on the board first with two runs in the top of the fourth. The Lady Rockets cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Each team plated two runs in the fifth inning, and R-U tied it with a run in the sixth inning before scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th.
The Lady Rockets combined for 11 hits. Junior Hailey Loutsch was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Senior Allison Schreiner added two hits, an RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Senior Stacie Bortscheller and junior Sammy Tentinger each had two hits. Bortscheller recorded an RBI and Tentinger had two stolen bases.
Junior Kim Schroeder pitched all 10 innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits. She struck out 15 and walked just one.
R-U will play again Thursday at home against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn.
