Grace Simons Mowbray, of Gainesville, Ga., died May 27, 2012, in her sleep at her home.
She was born in a beautiful home her parents built on Broadway Farms near Ireton. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Ireton High School in 1942 as class valedictorian.
She attended the University of Northern Iowa to be a teacher. She took a position in the Grundy Center School System.

Grace and Dale were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Le Mars on June 8, 1947. Dale had chosen to remain in the Army, and so they lived many different places, serving in Holland and Germany during World War II.
Then Grace decided to go to state college and complete her degree in library science. She went on to do a master's degree at Peabody of Vanderbilt.
Grace started teaching in Fulton County Public Schools, and also taught high school of College Park. She retired in 1990.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale; three sons, David, Alan and Glen, and a daughter, Margaret Beville, and their spouses; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Kehrberg, of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held June 4 in the Lanier Village Estates Chapel.
