Lady Rocket lose fifth straight against Eagles

CLEGHORN -- The Remsen-Union softball team lost its fifth straight game with a 7-2 loss to Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn on Wednesday in Cleghorn.

The Eagles led 2-0 before the Lady Rockets tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. But the Eagles regained the lead with a run in their half of the fourth. The score remained 3-2 until the Eagles pulled away with four runs in the sixth inning.

The Lady Rockets combined for just four hits. Alison Schreiner and Brittany Weikel each had a hit and a run scored. Brittany Sudtelgte added a hit and an RBI. Sammy Tentinger recorded the only other hit. Courtney Loutsch had an RBI.

Kim Schroeder pitched a complete game and let up three earned runs on 13 hits. She struck out four and walked none.

R-U (7-7) will play again Thursday at Spalding Catholic.
