Glendora Marie Derrick, 92, of Le Mars, formerly of Onawa, died April 27, 2012, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Glendora was born April 16, 1920, in Onawa, daughter of Eldie E. and Merle (James) Arney. She attended Onawa High School. She moved to Texas in 1938, where she met her husband.
Glendora and Bud Derrick were united in marriage Dec. 25, 1940, in Texas. They made their living in Texas until they returned to Onawa in 1959. There, Bud operated Arney's Auto Salvage while Glendora took care of the home.
Bud died Nov. 29, 1981.
In 2005, Glendora moved to Le Mars. She resided at the Sunrise Villa for approximately five years, then moved in with her granddaughter Kari (Tim) Tomlinson where she lived for more than a year.
Glendora attended the First Christian Church in Onawa and was a member of many bridge clubs.
Survivors include two sons, Tim (Karen) Derrick, of Prosser, Wash., and Gary (Deb) Derrick, of Sergeant Bluff; one daughter, Linda (Ted) Dreckman, of Le Mars; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Nash, of Chicago, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud Derrick; a son, Alfred Derrick; and a brother, Calvin Arney.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with Pastor John Sears officiating. Burial followed at the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation was held 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, at Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Casket bearers were John Derrick, Charlie Derrick, Tony Derrick, Shane Dreckman, Jesse Derrick, Jason Dreckman, and Jared Dreckman.
