Leora Marie Frahm was born March 25, 1942, in Correctionville, the daughter of Arthur and Marie E. (Lavine) Frahm. As a baby, Leora was baptized at the Assembly of God Church in Correctionville.
She received her education and graduated with the Class of 1960 from Correctionville High School. Following high school, she attended business school in Sioux City.
Leora was united in marriage to Gerald Lee Eppling on August 5, 1961 at the Assembly of God Church in Correctionville. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinty Lutheran Church in Cherokee Christmas Eve 1961.
Leora and Gerald farmed near Kinglsey for many years until moving to an acreage near Le Mars in 1995.
They have been members of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars since the early 1990s.
Leora enjoyed drawing and painting. She also enjoyed going camping and boating with family and friends.
She was very gifted sewing and making quilts for family. In later years, she enjoyed making family history scrapbooks.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Gerald of Le Mars; five children: Linda (Gary) Pettit, of Dallas, Texas, Larry (Trista) Eppling, Dennis Eppling, Bradley (Belinda) Eppling, all of Le Mars and Steven (Shelly) Eppling, of Sioux City; eight grandchildren: Lisa Trevino, of Dallas, Sarah Gaona-Munoz, of Dallas, Ashley Erickson, of El Paso, Texas, Dannika Eppling, Lindsey Eppling, Austin Eppling, Amanda Eppling, and Crystal Eppling, all of Le Mars; four great-grandchildren: Venny and Isabella Trevino and Isaac and Alaina Gaona-Munoz; two brothers: Gerald (Rita) Frahm, of Ida Grove, and Danny (Linda) Frahm, of Sioux City; a sister, Leola (Lawrence) Gansko, of Winchester, Calif.; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Frahm, of Sioux City and Laura Hinkhouse, of Correctionville; a brother-in-law, Ervin (Mary) Eppling, of River Falls, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marie E. (Lavine) Frahm; a brother, Eugene Frahm; parents-in-law, Robert and Martha Eppling; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Eppling.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Tim Gietz officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Cremation will occur following visitation and inurnment will be at a later date at the Kingsley Cemetery.
Honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
