Diane M. Hemmelman, 50, of Le Mars, died suddenly April 9, 2012, at her home in Le Mars.

Diane Marie Hemmelman was born June 16, 1961, in Kingsley, the daughter of Art and Peggy (Barthole) Poeckes. Diane received her education at St. Michael's Catholic School and graduated from Kingsley High School with the Class of 1979.

Diane was united in marriage to Lane Hemmelman on April 17, 1982, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley.

For the past 15 years, she worked for Wells' Dairy at the South Ice Cream Plant. Diane was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and time spent visiting with friends.

Diane was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Lane Hemmelman, of Le Mars; two children: Brian Hemmelman and his wife, Cassandra, of Le Mars and Kayla Hemmelman and her friend, Martin Lammers, of Tilden, Neb.; two grandchildren, Emma and Spencer; her parents, Art and Peggy Poeckes, of Le Mars; three brothers, Brad Poeckes, of Omaha, James Poeckes, of Le Mars, and Tom Poeckes and his wife, Shelly, of Le Mars; close friends, Katie Nelson, of Marcus and Terrie Peterson, of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 4 p.m. parish rosary followed by a 7 p.m. vigil prayer service.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hemmelman, Mike Hemmelman, Ray Hemmelman, Barry Cornish, David Foley, and Gary Rolling.
