Robert C. Schumacher Jr. 72, of Omaha, Neb., died Feb. 16, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb., following a lengthy illness.
He was born to Robert Sr. and Cecile (Del Cerro) Schumacher on Oct. 13, 1939, in Remsen. Upon graduating from Remsen High School in 1957, he worked in the family electric business, Bobs Electric Co. (Beco Inc.) until its close in 1986.
He married Joyce Opheim in November 1959 with whom he had two children, Tona and Dan. Joyce died in August of 1985.
He then married Beverley Cole in June 1989, with whom he moved to Omaha. He worked for Centaur Electric until he retired in 2006.
Robert is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Omaha; daughters, Tona of Coralville, Melissa of Omaha and son, Dan of Canton, S.D.; granddaughters Natasha, Heather and Desirae and great-grandchildren Andrew and Cherish. He is also survived by his sisters, Judi Drum, of Remsen, Joyce (Frank) Shepherd, of Wildesboro, N.C.; a sister-in-law Mary Schumacher, of Remsen; and his nieces and nephews and their families along with Beverly's family.
He was also proceeded in death by his parents, and a brother Thomas.
There will be a family and friends gathering from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the V.F.W. Hall in Irvington Neb., and another Saturday Feb. 25, from 1-4 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Remsen. Memorials may be sent to Bev Schumacher at 8054 Redick Ave. Omaha, Neb. The Good Shepherd Funeral Home of Omaha, Neb., is in charge of arrangements.
