Patricia Ann Milner was born Nov. 1, 1956, in Akron, the daughter of Richard and Anna (Haller) Milner. She attended school for handicapped children in Iowa City. Patty also attended the rehabilitation center in Sioux City, and lived in Glenwood, for a brief time.
Patty moved to Handicapped Village (now Village Unlimited) in September 1978. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Patty always had a happy disposition and had a great memory. She was a lover of animals and children, especially babies. She also enjoyed music and attended many concerts.
Patty always remembered her family and friends with birthday and holiday greetings. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Village, her friends and the activities they participated in.
She was a member of Sheldon United Methodist Church. Patty enjoyed attending church and Sunday School.
She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Anna Milner of Sheldon; two sisters, Priscilla Elgersma of Primghar, and Janet Higgins and her husband, Jerry, of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Bob Milner and his wife, Ronda, of Sioux City; a special friend, Gene Bauman of Sheldon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; father, Richard; and a sister Audrey Swalley and her husband, Chuck.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Marvin Lindley of the Uited Methodist Church in Sheldon, will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery (Adaville) rural Akron. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church and will continue until the service. The Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars is assisting Patricia's family with funeral arrangements.
