Marlene Jean Mousel, 82, of Le Mars, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.

Marlene Mousel was born June 3, 1929, in rural Alton, the daughter of Joseph and Celeste (Homan) Mousel. She was raised and educated in the Alton area. I

* 1941 she moved to Le Mars with her family and continued her education at St. Joseph's Catholic School.

She worked for Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars for more than 47 years. She moved into the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars in November 2004 where she was very happy and appreciative of the care she received in her new home.

Marlene spent many years caring for her mother and many more creating loving memories with her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she let everyone around her know it.

Survivors include one brother, Wayne Mousel of Le Mars; four nephews, Mark Mousel, of Remsen, Raymond Mousel and his wife, Lori, of Onawa, Brad Mousel and his wife, Loreen, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Steve Mousel and his wife, Karen, of Le Mars; three nieces, Barb Schnoes and her husband, Ron, of Le Mars, Kerry Loutsch and her husband, Ken, of Kingsley, Kris Berkenpas and her husband, Dave, of Le Mars; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Irvin Mousel and Merlin Mousel, brother and sister-in-law, Leland and Lena Mousel, a sister-in-law, Marlene M. Mousel, and a nephew, Ken Rhodes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Matt Hewitt officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday with a rosary at 5 p.m., followed by a 7:30 p.m. scriptural wake service, all at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home. Visitation will also be for one hour before the Mass on Friday morning at St. Joseph's Church.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Mousel, Brad Mousel, Steve Mousel, Ken Loutsch, Dave Berkenpas, and Ron Schnoes. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mark Mousel.

Memorials may be directed to Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars.
