'Dogs remain unbeaten with win over Tigers

SPENCER -- The Le Mars Community boys basketball team secured an early season Lakes Conference lead with a 60-45 win on the road at Spencer on Friday.

The eighth-ranked (Class 3A) 'Dogs, who close out the pre-Christmas schedule with a non-league game against Bishop Heelan on Tuesday, will take a 5-0 Lakes record into the break.

Austin Homan poured in 21 points for the Bulldogs (6-0, 5-0) while Brenden Collins scored 12 and Jake Irwin chipped in with 10. Jordan Eisma scored nine points for the 'Dogs, who host the fourth-rated (Class 3A) Crusaders in Carey Gym on Tuesday.

Chris Eckstaine hauled in a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots and three assists.

Irwin handed out two assists and grabbed two steals while Homan also tallied two assists and two steals in the win.

That was a good win. Wish we could have gotten a little bit more of an article! 6-0 is a pretty good start. Why no quotes? Why such little detail? Just an observation. I am sure the writer on this article will be at the Heelan game to make some observations and get quote or two, wait it looks like nobody wants to even take credit for this one just a general "LeMars Daily Sentinel" wrote this article. That's to bad. The kids deserve better from their local media!
