Russell and Heidi Engel

Heidi Ann Geiger and Russell Engel, of Sioux City, were united in marriage Nov. 5, 2011, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Merlin Schrad officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.

Heidi is the daughter Julie and Jason Madden, of Akron and Gene Geiger Jr., of Spencer. Russell is the son of Gary and Deidre Engel of Sioux City.

Providing music for the ceremony were soloist Molly Rooney and organist Ron Demers.

Katie Engel, of Rosalie, Neb., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Janelle McKenzie, of Luverne, Minn., and Amber Sandvig, of Estherville.

Flowergirl was Peyton Engel.

Best man was Casey McKenzie, of Luverne, Minn. Groomsmen were Corey Engel, of Rosalie, Neb., and Adam Howard, of Sioux City.

Ringbearers were Britton McKenzie, Xavier McKenzie, Landon Buck and Lucas Engel.

Seating the wedding guests were Todd Knealing and Lance Herrmann.

The reception was held at the Hinton Community Center.

Heidi earned her associate in science degree in criminal justice at Iowa Lakes Community College. She is employed at CenturyLink, North Star Services.

Russell earned his bachelor of science degree in biology and bachelor of arts degree in chemistry with a minor in psychology from Briar Cliff University. He is currently working on his master of science degree in food safety at Michigan State University. He is employed with Sue Honey Association.

The couple took a wedding trip to Sioux Falls, S.D., and are at home in Sioux City.
