Alicia E. Johnson, 85, of Council Bluffs, and formerly of Le Mars, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs.
Alicia Ellen Moran was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Le Mars, the daughter of Hugh F. and Ann A. (O'Brien) Moran. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School and continued her education at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City where she received her teaching degree.
She taught elementary students in Iowa and later moved to Westminster, Calif., where she continued to teach for many years.
In 1983, Alicia moved to Laguna Hills, California and worked as a caregiver to the elderly and handicapped until moving back to Iowa to be closer to her sister in Council Bluffs.
Alicia was a member of the Association of University Women, Holy Family Catholic Church, Holy Family Rosary Society, and St. Marten's Mission Guild all in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She enjoyed being a caregiver, and later in life caring for her sister, Mary Moran. She enjoyed reading and sharing her political knowledge.
Survivors include a son, Lloyd Johnson and his wife, Geri of Middleton, Calif.; a sister, Mary G. Moran, of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Gene Moran and his wife, Donna,of Le Mars and Francis Moran and his wife, Marcene, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Kevin Richter of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.
