Stanley and Frances Heuertz, of Le Mars, observed their 70th wedding anniversary Nov. 28, 2011.

Stanley Heuertz and Frances DeForce were married Nov. 28, 1941, in Omaha, Neb.

The couple celebrated with an open house Saturday afternoon at the Eagles Club, in Le Mars, and a Mass celebration at 4:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Le Mars. They returned to the Eagles Club for a dinner for family and friends.

Hosting this celebration were their children: Karol and James Callfas, of Alexandria, Minn., Dan and Pegion Heuertz, of Le Mars, Tom and Marlene Heuertz, of Le Mars,; Rick Heuertz, of South Sioux City, Neb., and Gayle and William Wilber, of Lorton, Va.

The couple has 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, six stepgreat-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Stanley and Frances love spending time with their family that is spread out across the states and spending their summers at Lake Ida fishing and being lazy. Stanley spends his winter days restoring model cars and tractors while Frances plays cards and reminisces with the kids that come visiting for cookies.
