Anita F. Zimmer, 85, of Littleton Colo., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the Porter Hospice at the Johnson Center in Centennial, Colo. She was the beloved mother of Richard (Jacquelyn) of Omaha Neb., Sharon (James) Frohne of Littleton Colo., and Deborah (David) Tomczyk of Beaver, W.V.

Anita was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Remsen, the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth (Schiltz) Arens. Anita was united in marriage to Vince Zimmer on September 12, 1944 in Clinton.

Anita loved her family with a passion and relished the chance to spend time with them. She delighted in wildlife sightings, especially deer and hummingbirds.

She loved traveling (having been to most of the "lower" 48 states and Alaska, Canada and Mexico), reading, particularly biographies, and card playing.

Survivors include her three children; four grandsons, Bryan (Jan) Zimmer of Omaha, Neb., Kevin Zimmer of Bellevue, Neb., Kyle Frohne of Lakewood, Colo., and Alex (Jaclyn) Frohne of Centennial, Colo.; two granddaughters, Tina (C.G.) Patterson of Page, Ariz., and Erica (John) Conner of Olympia, Wash.; six great-grandchildren, Ciara Zimmer of Kansas City, Mo., Tyler Zimmer of Kirksville, Mo., Molly and Wesley Frohne of Centennial, Colo., and Grant Conner of Olympia, Wash.; two ssisters, Ruth Colling of Remsen and Jeannette Langholdt of Le Mars; four brothers, Floyd Arens of Grass Valley, Calif., Marty (Donna) Arens of Le Mars, Jim Arens of Le Mars, and Tom (Marlene) Arens of Le Mars; two sisters-in-law, Marietta Alesch of Remsen and Sharon Zimmer of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Vince Zimmer on Oct. 7, 2004; two brothers, Robert Arens and Clyde Arens; two sisters, Betty Price and Elaine McKown; and 12 brothers-in-law and 10 sisters-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 4 p.m. rosary Service followed by a 7 p.m. scriptural wake service. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials can be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
