Breast Cancer Awareness Month will be marked with a "Denim Day" promoted by Floyd Valley Hospital this week.
Hospital and other businesses employees may "purchase" the right to wear jeans to work Friday for a minimum $3 donation.
"This has been a great way to raise money for the fight against breast cancer," said Denee Hardyk, radiology manager at Floyd Valley Hospital.
Monies raised are donated to the American Cancer Society and stay in Plymouth County.
Many businesses and schools have joined the hospital in the "Denim Day" project and more are encouraged to be part of the fundraiser Friday, Hardyk said.
Floyd Valley will provide posters to display in a business or school as well as individual participation stickers for employees to wear if they choose to participate.
Businesses or others interested in participating may contact the hospital through the radiology department by calling 546-3394 or 1-800-642-6074 ext. 394 for more details.
The hospital is also hosting the 11th annual "Pink Ribbon Night" this week.
The evening activities to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month will be at the Le Mars Convention Center upper level Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. with social hour and vendor booths open.
Dinner is served at 6 p.m.
Dr. Ellen Aquino, who joined Family Medicine Clinic-Le Mars in September, will present "Breast Cancer Does Not Discriminate, Get Checked Today!" and will stress the importance of early detection.
Image consultant and author Jill Swanson is the keynote speaker, and will talk on "Simply Beautiful Inside & Out."
Information is available from Kari Daale, community health education assistant at Floyd Valley Hospital, at 546-3401 or 800-642-6074 ext. 401.
