Blanche T. Schultz, 91, of Little Falls, Minn., formerly of Swanville, Minn., and a Maurice native, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Bridgeway Estates in Little Falls, Minn.
Blanche T. Schultz was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Maurice, the daughter of John and Nellie (Brink) Van Peursem. She was baptized in the First Reformed Church of Maurice. Blanche attended school in Maurice, until 1932 when her parents moved to Merrill. She graduated from Merrill High School when she was 16 years old. Blanche then attended NBT Business College in Sioux City.
On Sept. 17, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ivan Schultz in Spencer. They farmed near Le Mars until 1950 when they purchased a dairy farm near Swanville, Minn. She most recently resided in Little Falls at Bridgeway Estates.
Blanche was a member of Swanville Bible Church where she served as Sunday School and Bible School teacher and deaconess. She also belonged to Prairie Point Quilters for many years.
Besides being a homemaker Blanche worked off and on doing office work, most recently at Hart Press in Long Prairie and Morrison County Public Health.
Blanche especially liked feeding birds and watching sports. She most of all loved her family and making them quilts and birthday cakes.
Blanche is survived by sons, Ronald (Jeanne) of Merrill, Daniel (Lynn) of Center City, Minn., John (Sandee) of Cambridge, Minn., Timothy of St. Paul, Minn., and Charlie (Jill) of Swanville, Minn.; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Dennis "Pete") Kircher of Burtrum, Minn.; daughter-in-law, LaVern (LeRoy) Nelson of Rush City, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, Jodi (Mike) Van Leeuwen, Tami (Kyle) Mullenix, Brenda (Dennis) Valentyn, Toni (Josh) Kraska, Lisa (Curt) Riley, Tom (Heather), Keith, Nate (Kristine) and Shelly Kircher, Dean (Trina), Aaron, Jason, Jeffery (Mary), Nicole, Whitney, Benjamin, Abbey and Grace Schultz; 18 great-grandchildren, Anna, Luke, Katelyn, Carter, Tyler, Michael, Jessica, Joshua, Isabelle, Jaemon, Jimmy, Patrick, Natalie, Julia, Daniel, Bradyn, Paige and Ivan; brother, Russell Van Peursem of Orange City; sister, Aimee Joyce Heusinkveld of Melbourne Beach, Fla.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Schultz in 2006; her parents, John and Nellie (Brink) Van Peursem; a son, Larry in 1988; and two grandchildren, Bradley and Stacie Schultz.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville with the Rev. David Packo and the Rev. Steve Priola officiating. Burial will be at Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville, Minn. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Swanville Bible Church and one hour prior to the service Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
