Anita Mae Sorgdrager was born Feb. 5, 1971, in Le Mars, one of five children born to Earl Jr. and Tonja (McKnight) Sorgdrager. She graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1989.
She married Curt Bergquist Aug. 11, 1989, at Foster Park in Le Mars.
Anita was employed as a waitress at Hungry's in Merrill and sewed at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars. Most recently she worked at IBP in Dakota City, Neb.
Anita enjoyed crafts and scrapbooking, swimming, baking, cook-outs with friends and family, camping and motorcycle riding.
Most of all she loved shopping for her children and spending time with them.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Austin of Waterloo, and Jordan, Carly and Megan of Merrill,; her father, Earl Sorgdrager Jr. of Merrill; her mother, Tonja Stoddard of Sioux City; special friend, Mark Varenhorst and his son, Dominic of Merrill; a sister, Barb Sorgdrager of Sioux City, a brother, Rob (Dawn) Sorgdrager of Le Mars, a sister, Tina (fiancÚ Howie Long and his son, Jordan) Sorgdrager of Sioux Falls, S.D., a brother, Anthony Sorgdrager of Cherokee; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services will take be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The Rev. Dan Greving will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday.
