On Saturday, June 4, Roger and Gloria's three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren surprised them with a ring at the door bell. Roger and Gloria had no idea their entire family was coming to help them celebrate this milestone.
After some special family time, many photos and a champagne toast, Roger and Gloria's friends and extended family surprised them again for a cookout later that evening. As Roger's favorite color is purple and that was also their wedding color, all guests were asked to wear purple. At the party, Roger and Gloria were able to reminisce of their wedding day by cutting and feeding each other a piece of cake and receiving toasts from their friends and family.
The golden anniversary celebration was hosted by the couple's three children, Todd Pattison of Annapolis, Md., Robin and David Eick of Oelwein and Becky and Patrick Tuttle, Wichita, Kan.,
Roger Pattison and Gloria Kurth were married June 8, 1961, in Mapleton.
Roger and Gloria are both enjoying retirement. Roger works diligently to keep his yard well-groomed and the snow removed from the driveway. Gloria is an avid knitter and crocheter.
