Bulldogs shave 20 strokes from Saturday's team score to place third at Spencer Invite

SPENCER -- The Le Mars boys golf team finished third at Monday's Spencer Invitational at Spencer Golf and Country Club.

Jay Monahan of the host Tigers was the medalist with a 71 and led Spencer to a first-place finish with a team score of 307. Creston was second with 319 and had the runner-up in Carson Whittington, who carded a 75.

Le Mars placed third with 336. It marked a 20-stroke improvement over Saturday's performance in Okoboji.

Coleton Brown shot an 81 to lead the Bulldogs, while Michael Brandenburg and Parker Rolfes each carded rounds of 84. Eric Cline wrapped up counting scores with an 87.

Michael Sauer shot an 88 and Justin Tilley added an 89 for Le Mars' non-counting scores.

Le Mars is back in action on Tuesday at Cherokee. The 'Dogs return home on Friday against Cherokee.
