The 2 p.m. concert is open to the public and will be held in the Remsen Union School auditorium.
"It's a way for me to say 'thank you' to all of my family and friends who have been so supportive of me and my passion for music over the years," Portz says of her recital.
Her repertoire includes both old jazz classics, such as "I Got Rhythm" by the legendary Gershwin, and musical theatre pieces.
"I wanted to be able to show the community what I have been working on for the last four years while at Drake. I think my sound has improved and matured quite a bit since high school -- hopefully for the better," she joked.
The music she'll be singing is not the same kind of music she sang in high school or for the county fairs, Portz noted.
"However, I promise it is great music and will be entertaining for the whole family," she said. "I am so excited to share it with the community."
Portz, the daughter of Randy and Karen Portz, of Remsen, will be graduating from Drake University with degrees in accounting and marketing and a minor in musical theatre in May.
After graduation, Portz plans to move to Nashville, Tenn., to pursue a career in music.
"I'm very excited about moving to the 'Music City,'" she said. "And while I know it is not going to be an easy road, I have never been one to give up without a good fight."
