Rod and Jodi Lieber of Lawton and Randy and Jeanie Jelken of Le Mars announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Alisha Lieber of Lawton and Jeff Jelken of Merrill.

The couple is planning a 3 p.m. ceremony Sept. 3, 2011, at Lawton, with the reception to follow at Stoney Creek Inn, Sioux City.

Alisha is a 2003 graduate of Lawton-Bronson High School. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in 2007 with a bachelor of arts in elementary education and a minor in social studies. In 2009, she received her K-12 reading endorsement from Buena Vista University. In July of 2011, she will graduate from Walden University with her masters of science in education with a specialization in adolescent literacy and technology (grades 6-12). She is currently teaching ninth and 11th graders in a reading intervention classroom and is the sponsor of the Multicultural Club at North High in Sioux City.

Jeff graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1994. He is currently a self-employeed farmer on the Jelken family farm. Jeff and Randy, his dad, raise hogs and grain. He has also volunteered 14 years for the Merrill Fire Department. Jeff also enjoys being involved with the Plymouth County Pheasants Forever Chapter.
