Marcie was born Nov. 19, 1923, at Granville, the daughter of Bert and Mae (Kellen) Schnurr. She was raised and educated in the Granville area, graduating from St. Mary's Academy in Alton in 1940.
On Feb. 9, 1941, she married Harold J. Reichle at Granville. After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm near Granville where she worked with her husband. In 1950 they moved to the Le Mars area and farmed. In 1958 they moved to Canby, Minn., where they farmed, returning to Le Mars in 1960. Marcie was employed at Kohout Cap Co. In 1962 she and Harold moved to a farm near Carnes.
In 1968 they moved to Alton where Marcie was employed at Hentges Hardware and eventually started working for Farmers Cooperative Elevator as a bookkeeper. Marcie retired in 1984. Harold died Nov. 1986. She resided in Alton until January 2005 when she moved to Landsmeer Retirement Home. Marcie had been a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home since February 2008.
Marcie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and church guild in Alton. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She especially loved the times she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters: Joyce Lancaster and her husband, Darrel, Dale Reichle and his wife, Deb all of Le Mars, Betty Holles and her husband, Lloyd of Lincoln, Neb., Judy Meis and her husband Mark and Bob Reichle and his wife, Linda, all of Alton; 20 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Tillie Reichle of Princeton, Minn., Bertie Full of Canby, Minn., Inez Reichle of Orange City, and Catherine Pohlen and her husband, Clarence of Hospers; step-sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bob and Lorraine Fischer, and Lorraine Becker, all of Granville, Florence Pottebaum of Alton, and Jerry Meylor of Marcus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Laurene Schnurr and Rita Poss and her husband, Wilfred; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Reichle; four brothers-in-law, John and Lawrence Reichle, Tony Grady and his wife Angie, and Ray Full; one sister-in-law, Delia Alsup; two step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd Becker, Ferd Pottebaum, Lillian and Melvin Von Arb and Irene Meylor.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with the Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
