Carol Lee (Collins) Alesch was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Ireton, the daughter of Harry and Emma (Reed) Collins. She attended school in Ireton, graduating in 1955. She attended Northwestern Junior College in Orange City, graduating in 1957. She taught school in Archer and Marcus.
On July 26, 1961, she married Donald Alesch at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. They lived on a farm west of Marcus. She was a member of Holy Name Church where she was a member of St. Ann's Guild and also taught CCD for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Estephan of Katy, Texas and Sally Oltmanns of Windom, Minn.; four sons, Joe Alesch and his wife, Rae Anne of Marcus, Pat Alesch of Marcus, Mike Alesch and his wife, Brenda of Melvin, and Marty Alesch and his good friend, Jill Plagman of Marcus; grandchildren, Emma and Anna Estephan, Seph, Kelsey and Chandler Alesch, Brett Oltmanns, Bryce and Brooke Alesch and Jordan Strubbe; a brother and his wife, Leon and Ardis Collins of Lake Park; two sisters, Bonnie Newberg of Alcester, S.D., and Kaye and Lyle Antrim of Montrose, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Emma Collins; husband Donald Alesch; eight brothers, Robert, Glenn, Edwin "Bill", Ben, Bruce, Conrad, Richard and Dwight (in infancy); three sisters, Dorothy (in infancy), Betty Timmins, and Mary Fronk; and son-in-law, Kevin Oltmanns.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. The Very Rev. Armand Bertrand will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 3 p.m. with a scriptural prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Earnest -- Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus is assisting Carol's family with funeral arrangements.
