Marcella Beckmann, 92, of Le Mars died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Marcella Myers was born May 4, 1918, in Ireton, the daughter of Justin and Daisy (Jones) Myers. Marcella was raised in Ireton. Her father died unexpectedly in 1922 from a sudden illness. Her mother married Floyd Bartlett in 1927. In 1934, the family moved to rural Le Mars. Marcella attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Central High School in 1935.

Marcella was united in marriage to Harvey Borchers in January 1937. They spent nine months in California and then returned to Le Mars because of the death of Harvey's father. They resided in rural Le Mars until Harvey's death from a corn picker accident.

Marcella and her three sons moved into Le Mars where she worked as a bookkeeper for Iowa Public Service and then as a secretary at the Plymouth County Engineer's Office.

In 1962, she married William "Bill" Beckmann. In November 1967, they moved to Cape Coral, Fla., where they resided until 1997 when they moved back to Le Mars. Bill died in February 1998. Recently, Marcella resided at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Survivors include her son,: Clayton (Patty) Borchers of Sun City West, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Borchers of Rock Valley; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Rouletta (Hap) Halter of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harvey Borchers and Bill Beckmann; a sister, Cleone Vlotho of Ireton; an infant son, Terry Lee Borchers; two sons, Greg Borchers and Doug Borchers; and three grandsons, Tony Borchers, Jeff Borchers, and Chad Borchers.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. The Rev. Tim Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.
