Charles was born June 23, 1936, in Le Mars, the son of Emil and Marie (Baack) Frerichs. He was raised and attended school in Iowa. When in his 20s, Chuck moved to California to attend Cal State Fullerton where he obtained his bachelor of arts degree.
He was an industrial engineer. He worked for Oscar Mayer in southern California and later for Louis Rich in Modesto and Visalia.
He married his wife, Merrillyn, on Feb. 13, 1971 in Santa Ana at the First Baptist Church. They moved to Visalia in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Merrillyn; his sister, Helen Anthony of Le Mars; son Alec Bardrum (Shawna), daughter Rhonda White (Mick), daughter Cynthia Lawson (Brian) and son Charlie J.; seven grandchildren: Gabrielle White, April Bardrum, Madison Lawson, Chloe Lawson, Austin, Makayla and Jessica Frerichs; cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emil Frerichs; his mother Marie Frerichs Wiltgen, and his brother, Edo Frerichs.
A Celebration of Life service was held Jan. 8 at Grace Community Church in Visalia, Calif., followed by a private burial service.
