He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Akron, the son of Ed and Esther (Schiefen) Borchers. He attended Akron schools. He married Joyce Rohlfs May 21, 1951, in Craig. They farmed in rural Akron until 1961.
He worked several construction jobs around Kansas before settling in Sedan in 1965.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Borchers of Sedan; three sons, Steve Borchers and wife, Lynne Ann of Olathe, Kan., Terry Borchers of Wichita, Kan., and Rick Borchers and wife, Jackie of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Misti, Tina, Kara, Justin, and Courtney; and four great-grandchildren, Jason, Adyson, Corbin, and Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Borchers; and grandchildren, Amy and Jonathan.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, with the Rev. Sarah Nye officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are with Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.
