Elizabeth M. "Betty" Price, 75, of Le Mars, passed away Monday December 13, 2010 at Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars, following a lengthy illness.
The former Elizabeth Marie Arens was born Oct. 3, 1935, at Remsen, the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth (Schiltz) Arens. Her family moved to Le Mars when she was a young girl and she attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and was a member of the first graduating class of Gehlen Catholic High School in 1954.
Betty married Dale F. Price on July 18, 1955 at Aurora, Colo. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Aurora for several years before moving to Le Mars in 1969. Betty had been employed with Harker's in Le Mars for many years until her retirement.
Betty and Dale enjoyed wintering in Parker, Ariz., in their retirement years. Dale died Sept. 2, 1998.
Betty was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed traveling to visit with relatives and friends, especially if there was a casino nearby.
Survivors include her four children: Bob (Lucy) Price of Le Mars, Julie (Wayne) Talbott of Lincoln, Neb., Rusty (Cindy) Price, and Richard Price of Le Mars; 12 grandchildren: Amy (Dave) Streufert of Davenport, Jeremiah Price of Las Vegas, Nev., Dennis Price of Peoria, Ill., Nate (Danie) Talbott, Amanda Talbott, and Joshua Talbott, all of Lincoln, Neb., Cayla Price in college at Cedar Falls, Haley Price, Dylan Price, and Ryley Price, all of Le Mars, Leah Price and her special friend, Jesse Baack, both of Le Mars, and Pfc. Levi Price, stationed in Afghanistan with the U.S. Marines; four great-grandchildren: Samantha and Marcus Streufert, Lyla Talbott, and Addison Baack; sisters and brothers: Ruth Colling of Remsen, Elaine McKown and Janet Langholdt, both of Le Mars, Anita Zimmer of Littleton, Colo., Floyd Arens of Grass Valley, Calif., Marty (Donna) Arens, Jim Arens, and Tom (Marlene) Arens, all of Le Mars; and a sister-in-law, Marietta (Kenneth) Alesch of Remsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dale; two brothers: Clyde Arens in infancy and Bob Arens; four brothers-in-law: Ray Colling, George McKown, Clarence Langholdt and Vincent Zimmer; and a sister-in-law Betty Arens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons: Jeremiah Price, Dennis Price, Levi Price, Nate Talbott, Joshua Talbott, Dylan Price and Ryley Price.
