Arlo Herman Beermann, 73, of Le Mars, formerly of the Ireton and Hawarden area, died unexpected Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Arlo Herman Beermann was born June 13, 1937, at Ireton, the son of Herman and Martha (Bertram) Beermann. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He was a farmer and also employed at Siln-Soo in Orange City, IBP in Dakota City, Neb., Sioux Empire College in Hawarden and the Randy Ballard Garage in Hawarden. He also worked building towers.

Arlo will always be remembered for his smiles, his laughter, and his love for others. He was a great loving uncle and helped his great-nephew Chris to start his own business, CJ's Salvage. He loved his nephews and nieces.

Survivors include two nieces, Shirley Beermann of Le Mars and Carla Zoeller of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a nephew, Verlyn Beermann of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two great-nephews, Chris Beermann and his wife, Justine and their sons, Ethan and Jayden, of Le Mars and Travis Zoeller of Huron, S.D.; and a great-niece, Nicole Zoeller of Sioux Falls.

Arlo was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Darlene Zoeller May, 28, 2005, LaVada Beermann June, 21 2005 and his twin sister, Arnola Beermann June 27, 2005.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, rural Ireton, with military rites by the Ireton American Legion Bertram Post #276. Visitation will begin at noon today (Monday) with the family present from 7- 8 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.
