Roy Steffen, 81, of Remsen, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at his home in Remsen.

Roy was born April 11, 1929, at Remsen, the son of Fred and Anna (Grage) Steffen. He was raised and educated in the Remsen area. He graduated from Union High School in 1946. He then farmed with his father.

On Jan. 14, 1954 he married Margaret (Bruckner) at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple farmed in the Remsen and Kingsley area until their retirement in 1998 at which time they moved into Remsen.

Roy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church LCMS.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spent many weekends camping with his family and friends. He loved cars and always knew what model and year they were. He bowled for Felts' Shelling Team for many years.

Survivors include one daughter, Deb Steffen of Remsen; three sons, John and his daughter, Jessica of Remsen, Gary and his sons, Zachary and Isaac of Lakeville, Minn., and Ryan and his children, Joshua and Amanda of Germantown; one sister-in-law, Carole Steffen of Sioux City; three brothers-in-law, Larry Bruckner and his wife Diane, Don Bruckner and his wife Paula, and Bob Buckner and his wife, Cindy all of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy; one brother, Orville Steffen; one brother-in-law, Les Bruckner; and one nephew, Jesse Bruckner.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with the Rev. Dennis Martens officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery. Visitation will be anytime after 1 p.m. Sunday 2010, with a prayer service at 4 p.m., all at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen.

Casketbearers will be Jim Steffen, Richard Steffen, Roger Steffen, Dave Homan, Scott Pratt and Steve Pratt.

Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
