Glenn H. Henderson, formerly of rural Beresford, S.D., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Avera Trauma Care following a fall at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Born second of six sons to Orsie and Emma Sanwald Henderson March 25, 1921, in Loop City, Neb., Glenn grew up near Scotland, S.D., and graduated from high school in 1939. Following a four-year World War II Army tour in the Phillipines, Glenn married Alma Fuerst of Kaylor, S.D. in January 1946.

Together, until Alma's death in 1992, they farmed and raised their family west of Beresford. After moving to town in 1981 and retiring from farming, he established Henderson Motors and sold used cars until he once again retired and sold the business in 2001. At that time he moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., to be closer to senior services and care givers.

He was remarried in December 2000 at the age of 79 to Violet Erickson, also formerly of Beresford and now residing at Waterford at All Saints assisted living community.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Doug (Joan) Henderson, and Randy Henderson of Beresford, S.D., Rod Henderson of Tea, S.D., Scott (Holly) Henderson of Vermillion, S.D., and Carol (Mike) Fischer of Le Mars; and stepsons Dale and Steve Erickson of Beresford. Glenn is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Aaron and Molly Fischer (two of his grandchildren) are recent Le Mars Community High School graduates.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), at the Methodist Church in Beresford with burial at the Beresford City Cemetery.
