Richard "Rich" Patrick Martin was born Dec. 16, 1973, to Daniel and Lynda (Stinton) Martin in Sioux Falls, S.D. Rich was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Rich had attended school in Le Mars and Sioux City.
He worked for various construction companies in the area and for the last several years worked for Walker Excavating in Le Mars.
Rich's passion in life was his music. At a very young age, his gift for music was readily visible. As a toddler he was showing his rhythm playing the "pots and pans." He taught himself to play drums, piano, and the guitar.
Through the years, Rich had preformed with several bands in the area; mostly playing drums. He loved the life of music.
Along with his music, Rich enjoyed photography, art, and fishing.
Rich was adventurous; often leaving on a "road trip" with the clothes on his back, a full pack of cigarettes and the music in his heart. He loved to meet people and share stories.
His greatest joy in life are his daughters, Taylor and Jaidyn. He treasured the time with his girls.
Survivors include his daughters, Taylor Clarey of Le Mars and Jaidyn Martin of Sioux City; his mother, Lynda Martin of Sioux City; his grandmothers, Betty Stinton of Le Mars and Florence Parrish of Longview, Wash.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
