Ramona Gloden, 74, of Hospers, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon.
Ramona was born Aug. 4, 1936, at rural Granvillle, the daughter of Joe and Emma (Penning) Sauer. She was raised and educated in the Granvillle area and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in 1954.
On April 11, 1955, she married Jerome Gloden at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. The couple made their home in Sanborn until moving to Hospers in 1962 where they were engaged in farming until Jerome died Aug. 18, 1997. Ramona remained on the farm until her death.
Ramona was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and church guild and Catholic Daughters of America.
Ramona enjoyed being a farm wife and taking care of her family. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: six children, son, Jerry Gloden and his wife Mary of Le Mars, and their children Jerod and Jennifer; daughter Cindy Backer and her husband Doug of Sioux City, and their children Kyle, Megan and Billy and his fiancée Lauren Breazeale; daughter, Pam Falkena and her husband, Mark of Hospers and their children Mandy, Kris and his wife Rosalie, and Tim; son Terry Gloden and his wife, Brenda of Hospers and their children Jeremy, Melissa, Adam and Mikayla.; son Larry Gloden and his wife, Brenda of Hospers and their children Casey, Crystal and Hunter; son John Gloden and his wife Miranda of Omaha, Neb., and their children Christian, Cassie and Elijah; one great-grandchild, Camron, son of Casey Gloden; five brothers, Rich Sauer and his wife, Rita of Primghar, Joe Sauer and his wife, Mary of Le Mars, Mark Sauer of Denver, Colo., Jim Sauer and his wife, Sue of Omaha, Neb., and Bob Sauer of Pierson; two sisters, Joan Leonard and her husband, Tom of Minneapolis, Minn., and Kay DeLozier and her husband, Rich of St. Paul, Minn.; one brother-in-law, Jerry Bly of Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Kitty Sauer and Peggy Blake both of Sheldon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Jerry Sauer; and one sister Carol Bly.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers with the Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Friday. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
Casket bearers will be Jerod, Jeremy, Adam and Casey Gloden, Kyle and Billy Backer, Kris and Tim Falkena.
Honorary bearers will be Jennifer, Melissa, Crystal, Mikayla, Christian, Cassie, Elijah and Hunter Gloden, Megan Backer and Mandy Falkena.
