Hawks sweep Lady Rockets in WEC doubleheader

Remsen St. Mary's improved to 19-5 on the season and 10-4 in the War Eagle Conference with a pair of wins over cross-town rival Remsen-Union on Wednesday.

The night began with the completion of the June 1 contest, which was suspended in the fourth inning with the Hawks leading 10-2.

RSM plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to collect the 12-2, five-inning victory.

Jennifer Feller was the winning pitcher, allowing two unearned runs on two hits. The senior struck out two and did not walk a batter in five innings.

Courtney Loutsch and Kim Schroeder had the two hits for the Lady Rockets.

Five players had two hits apiece for the Hawks, who totaled 13 hits in the win.

Sadie Lewis was 2-for-4 while Miranda Staab, Makenzie Ricke and Paige Harpenau each went 2-for-3 in the win. Anyssa Trejo was 2-for-2.

In game two, RSM collected an 8-2 win to sweep the season series.

Feller collected the win, allowing two runs - one earned - on five hits. She fanned six, walked two and hit one in the complete-game performance.

Emma Krier, Lewis and Mercedees Ricke each went 2-for-4 for the Hawks.

Kim Schroeder suffered the loss for R-U. The freshman allowed eight runs - two earned - on seven hits. She walked one and struck out one in the contest.

Allison Schreiner paced the Lady Rockets offensively with a 3-for-4 plate performance and five stolen bases.

Brittany Sudtelgte was 1-for-3 and Taylor Weiler was 1-for-2.

R-U will play Unity Christian in a makeup contest on Thursday while RSM travels to face Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in WEC action.
