Friday, June 4, 2010

Remsen St. Mary's improved to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in War Eagle Conference play with a 6-1 victory over Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn on Wednesday evening in Remsen.

The visiting Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in the third, but the Hawks stepped up both sides of their game from there on out.

RSM knotted the score at 1-1 in the fourth before stringing together a round of hits in the fifth and plating five runs.

"We had a few bunt singles in there," RSM coach Brad Gralheer said.

Jennifer Feller collected the win in the circle. The senior surrendered one earned run on eight hits and one walk. She struck out three.

MMC managed eight hits, but the RSM defense was able to get out of a few jams and strand MMC runners on multiple occassions.

RSM committed just one error and used nine hits to plate six runs in the win.

Emma Krier was the only multiple hitter, with a 2-for-3 performance that included an RBI.

Jennifer Feller was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Miranda Staab went 1-for-2 and drove in two runs and Anyssa Trejo was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Kristin Loutsch, Makenzie Ricke, Paige Harpenau and Mercedees Ricke each added a hit for the Hawks.
