Joshua S. Howe, 15, of Hinton, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, following respiratory complications.

Joshua Samuel Howe was born Feb. 22, 1995, in Sioux City, the youngest of four children born to Ronald and Christine (Berg) Howe. He attended grade school at Hinton Community Schools.

Joshua participated in 4-H and took photography, baking and horse showing projects to the Plymouth County Fair. Josh was currently a freshman at Hinton Community High School. At school he enjoyed cooking in foods class and constructing projects in woods.

In his spare time Josh loved to draw, write stories and make various art projects. He liked to shoot, play video games and watch movies. He was very interested in dinosaurs and fossil hunting. He was a member of the Le Mars Saddle Club and showed horses in NISHA.

Josh gave the greatest gift through tissue and organ donation so that others may live.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother. Chris Howe of Hinton; brothers, Nathan Howe and his wife Autumn of Omaha, Neb., and Matthew Howe and his wife Jennifer of Maryville, Mo.; a sister, Allyson Howe at home; aunts and uncles, Linda and Junior Ashburn of Ackworth, Jean Berg of Kiron, Ed and Shelby Berg of Winston-Salem, N.C., Kathleen Baker of Noblesville, Ind., Hollie and Danny Cummins of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Lisa and Paul Simister of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Howe on Jan. 1, 2008; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Mavis Howe; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Jean Berg; and two uncles, Leonard Berg and Philip Baker.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Hinton Community High School. The Rev. David Steinbron of the Grace Evangelical Church in Hinton will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Hinton. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present to greet family and friends from 5-8 p.m.
