"Year of the Study Hall" is underway at the Plymouth County Historical Museum as Wayne Marty begins nailing down the flooring in the Study Hall room. The floor boards were originally used as gym flooring at the Le Mars Community High School before it was removed for use at Westmar College. The college, however, never installed the flooring, leaving it in storage until the college closed in 1997. The museum retrieved the flooring and has been waiting to use it for the Study Hall. In its prime, the 45-by-68 room accommodated more than 250 high school student desks and up to 600 people without the desks. Judy Bowman, Plymouth County Historical Museum administrator, hopes to see the room done for use in hosting an all-school reunion during the July 4th weekend this summer.
