Delphine "Dele" Willms, 87, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars in Le Mars.
Delphine Mathilda Willms was born Jan. 28, 1922, near Oyens. She was one of six children born to Frank and Margaret (Kinsel) Fiedler. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Le Mars High School. Following graduation, Dele worked at Gus Pech Foundry in Le Mars.
On April 10, 1946, Dele and Dirk "Dick" Willms were united in marriage at Luverne, Minn. They made their home on a farm north of Le Mars. Along with farming and caring for her family, Dele worked at Pecks Electric and Vance's in Le Mars.
Dele was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.
She enjoyed gardening and baked countless numbers of cookies. Dele also enjoyed crafts and attending craft fairs with her daughters.
Dele will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dick, of Le Mars; a daughter, Deanna David and her husband Mel, of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter Devona "Dee" Willms, of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Douglas; sisters and their husbands Viola and Conrad Nussbaum, Bernice and LeRoy "Casey" Jones, Evelyn and Marvin Hansen, Margaret and George Dirksen; and a brother and his wife Ray and Ailene Fiedler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Matt Hewitt will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 6 p.m., and a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Monday.
