4-H Recognition Night set for Nov. 16

Thursday, November 12, 2009
The annual 4-H Recognition Night for Plymouth County 4-H'ers moves to a new location this year, the Le Mars Convention Center.

The 4-H recognition program will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in the convention center's lower level, which will also be the new home of the Plymouth County Extension Office.

The community is invited to help honor the outstanding 4-H'ers, leaders, parents, and volunteers who have contributed to the Plymouth County 4-H program.

"It is with the service of these fine individuals that Plymouth County has one of the strongest 4-H organizations in Iowa," said Ann Schoenrock, Iowa State University Extension's County Youth Coordinator.

Among the awards presented will be the Achievement Award, Ak-Sar-Ben Award, Danforth "I Dare You," Outstanding Senior member, Leader of the Year, Honorary 4-H'er, and Project Awards.

The new 4-H County Council members will also be inducted during the program.

The Plymouth County 4-H Foundation will also be drawing for the quilt that was donated by Virginia Freyermuth.

Raffle tickets are currently being sold by 4-H'ers and are available at the Extension Office. They are $1 per ticket or $5 for six tickets.

Tickets may also be purchased the evening of the Recognition Night prior to the program in the lobby of the convention center until 7 p.m.

The Plymouth County 4-H Foundation has been established to help provide scholarships for 4-H'ers and sponsor leadership programs such as State 4-H Conference and Citizenship Washington Focus trip to Washington DC.

Refreshments will be served following the event and the Plymouth County Fair Grand Champion photos will be on display.

The Plymouth County Extension Office will be moving mid to late December to the lower level of the Le Mars Convention Center which is currently being prepared for office spaces for the Extension Office.
