Family Medicine Clinic to offer additional urgent care hours

Monday, November 9, 2009
Hours of operation for the Family Medicine Clinic - Le Mars Urgent Care have been expanded to include Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5-8 p.m.

Patients may be seen on a walk-in basis for acute health conditions.

"We are excited to be providing urgent care services to our communities. We discovered this was a real need in our area and we are working hard provide this access for our patients," said Julie Sitzmann, clinic manager. "In the near future we will be adding Monday nights to the schedule and eventually weekend hours as well."

Floyd Valley Hospital has been providing urgent care services through its Emergency Department since February.

Floyd Valley Hospital will continue to provide urgent care services until all the services have been successfully transitioned to the clinic in Le Mars, hospital administrator Mike Donlin said.

"Floyd Valley Hospital's Emergency Department will continue to be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a physician for all emergent care needs," Donlin added.

Urgent care should be a 24 hour operation to keep health care costs in line. Urgent care knows no hours just like emergencies know no hours.

Not sure what the real difference is tho since Avera owns both the Hospital and the clinic...
