Hey, I'm part of the media 'elite'!

Every day for the past week, I have been receiving angry emails from numerous people, many of whom I don't know.

At first, I simply deleted the messages after reading them. Most were identical, just sent from different people. The subject line: How do we love you, let me count the ways... or Can you hear us now?

The over 600 word message, addressed to CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and MSNBC (one adds "and selected fishwraps" -- that's me!) begins, "You lie, omit, distort and skew what otherwise should be unbiased accounts of ALL news, not just what furthers the interests of the "fringe left." What the general population would consider important you ignore completely or couch in subtle subterfuge and obfuscation."

You had me at you lie...

It goes on to list a litany of stories that the main stream media (MSM to those in a hurry) has refused to report on: "Let's take a few examples: Would you consider it newsworthy that Bill Ayers wrote "Dreams of My Father"? (This information has been available for over a year, and for whatever reason, he (Bill Ayers) has now gone public with it.) Would you consider it newsworthy that WE ACTUALLY WON THE IRAQ WAR while liberating 30 million Muslims? (Did you notice at all or just deem Palin's daughter's pregnancy more worthy of broadcast time?)"

Another email I received resonated more deeply with me.

"I write this in disbelief of what is happening to our Country. Our government operates by corrupt influence, by substituting their private interests in place of public duty, by using their financial privileges to lobby or bribe their opponents, and by selfishly working for a part of the nation instead of the benefit of the whole country. They are creating an army of interested partisans who use the tongue and pen while creating fear, a fear that they use to support domination of a few under a disguise of liberty for the many. Such a government makes a mockery of democracy. Our leaders govern like kings and queens while we find ourselves wondering what has happened to the land we once called free. Political parties are a thought of the past, either people are so far left or right that the middle has faded away. Our representatives refuse to police their own. They ignore reality and exaggerate the truth. They pass legislation in the middle of the night hoping that we aren't paying attention. They walk the halls of congress with the attitude of "do as you're told, not as I do". Our founders gave their lives putting this country on a path to prosperity and now we watch Washington and special interest race to destroy it. Our leaders don't read the legislation that they pass. They confirm individuals to power they know nothing about and they do it while the media refuses to report the evil that litters the halls of Washington.

"The people of this country were given the right to agree and disagree about the policies of our government, but many who call themselves leaders would rather dishonor Americans with slander, while ignoring the real tribulations of this nation. Other leaders hide in the shadows continuing to build support for their secret agendas while spending us into a state of disaster. Washington believes the rights of the people are no longer a concern.

"We must go back to being a nation of the people and not just calling ourselves Democrats and Republicans. The American People cannot forget our responsibilities to our country. So we the people must ask ourselves the ultimate question: Do we continue down this path of corruption, a path that will surely devastate the future of our children and our country, or do we finally stop the tyranny of America and truly understand why so many have given the ultimate sacrifice to keep this country free from all enemies, both Foreign and Domestic?"

I would just like to add that what's going on today is really nothing new. You can look at any of the last three administrations (Bush, Clinton, Bush) and make a similar case.

Will anything change?
