t's time for Scoop the Loop with cruisin' classics, hot dogs and sounds from the 1950s and '60s.

The annual Scoop the Loop event will be Wednesday, Aug. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Olson Cultural Event Center at First Street and First Avenue Northeast in downtown Le Mars.

Food including hot dogs, chips, soda, water and ice cream will be served for a small charge starting at 6 p.m. at the Olson Cultural Event Center.

Music by The Velaires will also start at 6 p.m. and run through 8:30 p.m. at the center.

The cruise, which will feature classic cars, trucks and cycles, will roll out from the Le Mars Convention Center parking lot this year at 6:30 p.m., traveling west on 12th Street Southwest to Central Avenue where it will turn north toward downtown.

Spectators can set up chairs and blankets along Central Avenue, or head to the Olson Cultural Event Center where the cars will park for some "show and shine" time until 8:30 p.m.

Volunteers will assist the drivers in getting their vehicles parked at the center and the surrounding streets.

"We're looking forward to having a lot of people come from the surrounding Siouxland area to show their classic vehicles and share in the fun," said Mary Reynolds, Main Street manager.

The event is sponsored by the Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce Main Street Committees.

"We want people to come out and enjoy the classic cars and motorcycles, the live music and take time to visit with friends," Reynolds said.

There's no charge to come and look at the classics.
