Dr. Delmer DeBoer, 76, of Franklin, Tenn., and a former Plymouth County resident, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
He was Professor Emeritus of Belmont University math department and former president of the Middle Tennessee Math Teachers Association.
He was a 1949 graduate of Le Mars High School.
Delmer was an active member of Antioch United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ramona DeBoer; daughters, Sharon DeBoer and Sam Slifka, Lynn (Bryan) Pritchard and Sandy (Mike) Febles; sons, David (Tina) DeBoer and Doug (Holly) DeBoer; grandchildren, Max, Mike, Kate and Jack Slifka, Kelsey, Tyler and Matthew DeBoer, Kurt, Anthony and Sadie Pritchard, Emily and Eli DeBoer, Ryan, Brennen, Jared, Tony and Eric Febles; sister, Sylvia Krommendyk; and two brothers, Jerrold DeBoer and Elroy DeBoer of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera VerHoeven and a brother Marvin DeBoer.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at United Methodist Church of Le Mars with the Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery at rural Le Mars. The family will be present at the church to greet friends and family from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
