2009 fair truck recognizes fair board and swine show

The 10th annual edition of the Plymouth County Fair collectible truck recognizes the swine show judging and members of the Plymouth County Fair board.

The series of trucks is designed to recognize activities and scenes that make up the Plymouth County Fair.

The picture on the driver's side of this year's trailer features members of the 2008 Fair Board standing by the fair's Model T truck.

The passenger side of the truck features a scene from the 2008 Swine Showmanship Class in the covered show ring.

The limited edition scale model truck is a 1/64 die cast Standup Peterbilt Tractor with the decorated trailer, according to Albert Schulz of the Le Mars Toy Store, who coordinates the design and production of the truck.

The tractor is black and has "Le Mars, Iowa" and "2009 Plymouth County Fair" written in black and sky blue.

The trailer features a shaded sky blue background. Printed on the trailer is "68th Annual Plymouth County Fair 2009" the fair dates, "July 29-August 2, 2009" and "Welcome" and "Le Mars Iowa" in black lettering.

The trucks are numbered from one to 150, and are labeled as 10th in a series on the rear of the trailer.

A limited number of trucks are still available for sale, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, according to Schulz.

Anyone interested should contact The Le Mars Toy Store at 712-546-4305 or visit Schulz at his trailer at the fairgrounds near the clocktower during the fair.

Those who have already ordered a truck may also pick it up at the fairgrounds.

The No. 1 and No. 2 trucks will be auctioned at the Plymouth County Fair Auction which is set for 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, in the Pioneer Village. Proceeds from the sale of those trucks will go to the Plymouth County Fair.
