"It was raining and it was wet," RSM coach Brad Gralheer said.
Jennifer Feller took the win in the War Eagle Conference softball matchup, surrendering five runs - two earned - on five hits and one walk. The junior starter fanned five in the victory.
The Hawks' offense scattered eight hits, led by Sadie Lewis with a 2-for-3 plate performance that included an RBI.
Miranda Staab drove in three runs to go along with one hit while Mercedees Ricke was 2-for-4 on the night.
Kristin Loutsch was 1-for-4 with an RBI while Emma Krier and Anyssa Trejo were each 1-for-3 at the plate. Makenzie Ricke drove in one run.
"We hit the ball pretty well," Gralheer said.
The league contest was scheduled to be a doubleheader, but the second game was called in the second inning due to the rain.
RSM held an 8-0 lead at that point, but according to Gralheer, it is unlikely that the contest will be completed due to the start of regional play on Wednesday.
The Hawks (17-14, 5-11) wrap up WEC play Monday on the road at Hinton.
