The parade Saturday will begin at 10 a.m.
The route starts from the Le Mars Community High School's north parking lot, proceeds east on Eighth Street Southwest from the northwest driveway of the high school (Fifth Avenue Southwest) to Third Avenue Southeast, and then proceeds south to the Veterans Memorial Park for a total of 10 blocks.
Parade participants should be at the lot by 9 am. to line up.
It is not necessary to fill out an entry form.
The brief program at the Plymouth County Veterans Memorial Park (corner of 10th Street and Third Avenue Southeast) will begin at 11 a.m.
The program opens with the National Anthem, includes prayer, remarks by guest speakers and ends with the 21-gun salute and taps.
This year's special guest speaker is Kingsley native Harrison (Clay) McNaughton.
He has served in the Iowa National Guard for 25 years and has pulled duty in Kosovo in 2003 and Iraq in 2007. He is currently stationed at Camp Dodge in Ankeny.
Local dignitaries slated to speak are Le Mars Mayor Dick Kirchoff and Plymouth County Supervisor Chairman Jim Henrich.
Lunch will follow at noon (for a free will donation) in the Le Mars Convention Center, upper level.

The Fourth of July fireworks, at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds, begin at 10 p.m. July 4.

Several East Coast cities cancelled their fireworks for 2009. Are fireworks in Le Mars a good use of taxpayer dollars? I enjoy them, but am just wondering what some other opinions are out there.
