Fourth of July hoopla to unfold

Thursday, July 2, 2009
Fourth of July festivities will fill the day at the Plymouth County Historical Museum this Saturday with the traditional antique flea market.

The flea market will be set up in "Old Central" Gym with items for sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hot jumbo dogs and all the trimmings -- chips and Fourth of July birthday cake -- will be the feature at the Gym Dandy Diner in the gym lobby.

As a special exhibit, Herman Kluver of Remsen will have his Round Barn art on display. The Round Barn, at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Kluver is a former Plymouth County supervisor.

The traditional watermelon feed, free to the public and provided by Timmy's Catering, will begin at 3 p.m. on the museum lawn.

All five floors of the museum will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Root beer floats will be served in Miller's Lunch.

Featured for sale will be the museum's new pictorial history book about Plymouth County.

Chances for the museum's $500 cash raffle also will be available.
