Chris Olson hit a home run and worked around five errors to earn the win on the mound as the Kingsley-Pierson baseball team won a 12-8, Senior Night decision over visiting Galva-Holstein in Western Valley Conference action on Tuesday.

"We made a few mistakes defensively, but we came out and hit the ball and got the win," K-P coach Kevin Hardie said. "That's what matters."

Olson and the Panthers trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, but Olson - K-P's leadoff hitter - hit the first pitch he saw for his second home run of the season to make it 2-1.

The Panthers tied it at 2-2 in the second and took a 3-2 lead and pulled away for their second consecutive victory.

Olson allowed eight runs - four earned - on five hits while striking out six.

"He had a couple of moments where he was a little shaky," Hardie said. "He had a couple of innings where he had to battle back with the bases loaded."

"He worked ahead in counts," Hardie added. "He did a good job."

Olson also had a pair of singles, three runs scored, three stolen bases and three RBIs on the evening.

Ben Goracke was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Tyler Sudbeck and Justin Laddusaw each had RBI doubles and Laddusaw scored two times.

Hardie said Laddusaw just missed a three-run homer when his shot down the left field line was ruled foul.

Tyler Campbell scored two runs for K-P (9-15, 8-9), which travels to Woodbury Central on Wednesday.
