Minnie was born June 4, 1919, in rural Roslyn, S.D., the daughter of Henry and Petra (Frostad) Johnson. She grew up there and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1937.
She and Arthur Grorud were married June 22, 1941 in Aberdeen, S.D. After living in the south during World War II, they lived in the Minneapolis/St Paul area during Arthur's seminary years. They served churches in the following communities; Viking, Minn. (1952-54), Oklee, Minn. (1954-58), Hingham & Kremlin, Mont. (1958-61), Pinehurst, Idaho (1961-67), Fairview, Mont. (1967-73), Centerville, S.D. (1973-80), and Osborne, Kan. (1980-84). After retirement, they moved to Le Mars in 1984 and in 2000 they moved to Brandon, S.D., residing there until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls.
Survivors include one son, the Rev. Mark (Caryl) Grorud, Fremont, Neb.; one daughter, Annette (Greg) Peterson, Brandon, S.D.; one sister, Elaine Chilson, Sisseton, S.D.; five grandchildren and one great grandson.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Brandon Lutheran Church with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family present was Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.
