Dora Probst, 85, of Des Moines and formerly of Alton, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Dora Probst was born May 26, 1924, in rural Alton, the daughter of Peter and Berdena (Vrieze) Jiskoot . Dora was raised and educated in the Alton area. On Feb. 24, 1942 she married Kenneth A. Probst at Alton. They made their home southeast of Alton where they were engaged in farming. In March 1954 they moved to a farm near Galva and in March 1957 moved to a farm near Sedan, Minn. In 1974 they moved into Alton and in 1991 moved to Orange City. In April 2003 they moved to Des Moines. Kenneth died July 27, 2005.
Dora was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton.
Survivors include three daughters, Dianne and her husband Bill Gregor and LuAnn Kramer all of Des Moines and Glenda Probst of Montezuma; one son, Gary and his wife Pat of Westminster, Colo.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton with the Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Alton. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today (Tuesday). There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton. Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers will be Shawn, Jason and Dalton Tauber, Ben Probst, Jennifer Brown and Courtney Mainka.
